Tagit launches the NUS-Ranjan Kapur Bursary Award
Selects the first recipient from NUS Science faculty
Singapore, 1 September 2020: Tagit is delighted to announce that Mohammed Noh, who recently graduated from the NUS Science Faculty, has been selected as the first recipient for the inaugural ‘NUS-Ranjan Kapur Bursary’ award. It was a solemn occasion to mark the memory and appreciation of our late former Chairman’s long contributions to Tagit from the early days of its founding in 2005 to 2018 when he suddenly passed away.
Disbursed annually to one deserving student from NUS, the objective of the NUS-Ranjan Kapur Bursary Award is to improve the lives of students, advance research, and effect positive change for society.
Given the pandemic, a virtual meeting was organised by NUS Development Office with the recipient Mohammed Noh. The other participants included Mrs. Jimi Kapur and Tina Kapur, wife and daughter, respectively, of Mr. Kapur, Sandeep Bagaria, CEO of Tagit and Navtej Singh, Co-Founder & Director of Tagit, who is also an alumnus of NUS.
Mr Sajjad Akhtar, Chairman of Tagit said: “At Tagit, we strongly follow the philosophy of giving back to the community and no better way than contributing to shaping our young talents into future leaders of tomorrow. Ranjan was devoted to educating and training people to acquire new skills and knowledge. By setting up this award, we continue to honour his memory and legacy which has positively touched many lives.”
Commenting on the Award Mr. Noh said “I would like to thank Tagit for setting up the bursary. It relieved a huge financial burden on me, and I was free to contribute extra time on my project that I normally would have used on the part-time job I took on weekly to support myself throughout my stint in university. Without the award, I would have not been able to achieve the excellent grade I received for my FYP project.”
